- Chemical-Resistant Plating Masks
- Conformable Irregular-Surface Coverage
- Clean-Removal Process Masking
Product Description
3M Electroplating Tape 470 is an unlined, tan vinyl tape with a rubber pressure-sensitive adhesive for masking in electroplating, anodizing, milling, etching, and peening operations. The 0.18 mm tape combines a conformable, abrasion-resistant backing with resistance to most chemicals used in typical electroplating processes and to most common solvents. It follows curved or irregular surfaces and removes cleanly from most surfaces after use. Ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and esters can swell or curl the backing. The printable surface accepts marker ink and thermal-transfer printing for identification during processing.
Key features
- Electroplating chemical resistance: The vinyl construction resists most chemicals used in typical electroplating and anodizing operations.
- Conformable process masking: Flexible backing covers curved and irregular surfaces during plating, milling, etching, and peening.
- Printable clean removal: The marking surface accepts ink and thermal-transfer printing, then removes cleanly from most surfaces.
Applications
Applications include flat-strip and overlapping electroplating masks, anodizing masks, coated-rack protection, milling, etching, peening, labeling, and container sealing.
